UDST Celebrates Qatar National Day with Launch of Institutional History Book

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) marked Qatar National Day with an on-campus celebration that combined institutional milestone documentation with recognition of national heritage. The event, held in the presence of senior government and educational officials, centered on the official launch of the university’s “Success Story” book.
H.E. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Naimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, attended alongside Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla, Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), Dr. Abdulatif Al Khal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Director of Medical Education at Hamad Medical Corporation, and Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST.
Documenting Institutional Development
The “Success Story” publication traces UDST’s trajectory from its establishment as Qatar’s first applied university through its current position in the national higher education landscape. The book features accounts from students, alumni, and faculty members, documenting academic achievements, innovation projects, community engagement initiatives, and professional outcomes.
A curated exhibition accompanied the book launch, presenting the university’s institutional milestones and developments through visual displays and documentation. The publication includes an opening message from Her Excellency Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater, Minister of Education and Higher Education.
“Qatar National Day is a moment to celebrate how far our country has come and to renew our commitment to the values of unity, resilience and progress,” said Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST. “Through the launch of this publication, we aim to document a story that will endure for generations to come. At UDST, we see this day as an opportunity not only to honour our national heritage, but also to recognise the achievements of our students, alumni and partners who contribute to Qatar’s ongoing success.”
Recognition of Athletic Achievement
The event included formal recognition of UDST athletes who competed at the 10th World InterUniversities Championships in Barcelona. The university’s teams, which earned multiple medals in swimming and badminton, were acknowledged for their performance and contribution to Qatar’s profile in international university sports.
The celebration incorporated cultural programming, including student performances, screenings of Qatari-made films, heritage displays, and traditional food presentations. These elements reinforced the event’s dual focus on institutional documentation and national cultural celebration.
UDST positions itself as a national institution focused on innovation, applied education, and workforce development aligned with Qatar’s economic diversification objectives. More information about the university’s programs and institutional development is available at udst.edu.qa.
